The NUJ has a well-established programme of training for our workplace reps, but did you know we are now also putting on a short-and-sweet online workshop aimed at people who are new to the union?
These New Members Induction Workshops are open to all members but will be most useful to those who have joined recently – or those (all?) of us who may have been in for a while but still sometimes find the alphabet soup of union organisation a little confusing.
An hour-long session on Zoom will focus on basics such as how chapels and branches function and the individual and collective benefits of being a member. There will also be an opportunity to hear about some of the numerous ways large and small in which any member can become more involved in our union – because we are the union.
The next New Members Induction Workshop is scheduled for 10 March 2026 and will be repeated on 29 April; 19 May; 24 June; and 14 July 2026. The session is online, lasts one hour and starts at either 1pm or 5pm according to which one you sign up for. To book a place or to request further information, please email NUJ training: tutraining@nuj.org.uk

New sessions are added throughout the year, so watch out for updates.
